-A new kind of "new avant-garde" was emerging. Critics began discussing a new group of younger artists who concentrated on geometric shapes. Donald Judd, Frank Stella, and Robert Morris gain popularity in art community.

 

-Minimalism becomes an established art movement. Famous group shows such as "Primary Structures" are held. Rise of artists such as Anne Truitt, Donald Judd, John McCracken, Dan Flavin, Carl Andre, Jo Baer, David Novros, Ralph Humphrey, and Robert Ryman. Barbara Rose communicates the movement with the term "abc art."

 

-Minimalism gains its critical recognition. The emergence of movements such as post-Minimalism and Conceptualism. Many american artists begin exhibiting their art in other parts of the world, further raising global popularity.
